Mingo is small unincorporated community located in the northern part of Bourbon County, Kansas, United States. It is situated on U.S. Route 69, south of Fort Scott and north of Arma. The community was named for the Mingo people, an Iroquoian group of Native Americans who inhabited the area during the 18th century. Mingo is home to the Mingo United Methodist Church, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The population of Mingo is not formally reported, but it is estimated to have several hundred residents. The community offers a rural lifestyle with easy access to outdoor recreational activities, including hunting, fishing, and hiking.
